Week of October 17th

We have a five day week this week, so a new Sunshine Math will be passed out on Monday and is due on Friday, please show all your work. Monday and Tuesday, we will be reviewing for the Chapter 1 test. Tuesday morning is the lockdown, so that will change our routine. The test will be on Wednesday. Then we will be going into Chapter 2.

Week of October 11th

Short week of classes due to the long weekend. It is time to finish up our studies of Chapter 1. We have Lessons 9 and 10 to complete. POW #3 is due on Wednesday. Another SBR Test on Friday. No Sunshine Math assignment this week.

Week of October 3rd

September is over and there are five weeks left in this first quarter. We have been working at mastering our understanding of scientific notation. Monday will be a review day and then there will be a quiz on 1.6 and 1.7 on Tuesday. Wednesday, we will be going over the quiz and passing out POW #3. We should be able to start in on 1.8 before the extra long weekend. Thursday is Pink Pants Day as there is no school on Friday or Monday.

Week of September 26th

We will be doing a poster project on Scientific Notation as a different way of learning the material instead of just doing problems from our textbook. Presentations to the class will be on Tuesday. A new Sunshine Math will be passed out on Monday and due on Friday. The POW that students have been working on is due on Wednesday, at the start of class. SRB Test #2 is on Thursday. Students do not need to study and their score doesn't affect their letter grade, but if they earned a 2 on the last test, they might want to study as the same questions will be on this test, just with different numbers.

Week of September 19th

Students are now getting into the routines of this math class. They have completed a Sunshine Math assignment, POW and taken a quiz. We have started our 30 multiplication tests, where students are self-charting their progress towards their goal. We will continue with our work in Chapter 1 this week with negative exponents and then start a review of scientific notation. Half day on Wednesday with the Lip Dub. New POW on Thursday.

Week of September 12th

Finally got my blog working again, sorry about the delay. Finally have a five day week and the students are starting to get into a routine. Monday, we are finishing up Lesson 4 and their first Sunshine Math assignment will be passed out. Tuesday will be devoted to NWEA testing and I hope that it won't run into Wednesday. POW #1 is due on Wednesday and we will be reviewing for the quiz covering 1.1 to 1.4 on Thursday. Thursday, there will also be the first SBR test, which is 10 questions covering basic math skills. Students don't have to study for this and it doesn't count towards their quarter grade, but is a great indication of how well basic math skills have been mastered. Sunshine Math #1 is due on Friday.

Week of May 30th

We have made it to the end of May and everyone is looking forward to the busy days of June. Tuesday we will complete the last lesson in Chapter 8. The last POW of the year is due on Wednesday and review. Chapter 8 test on Thursday. Friday is a special event at school and all laptops with their chargers will be collected. It will be a fast week.
