Week of March 17th

Maybe, we can have a normal five day week, this week. Monday, I'll pass out the second half of our textbook and we will begin working on Chapter 5. Last Sunshine Math of the quarter will be due on Friday. Wednesday, the POW that you have been working on is due. All the 8th grade math classes have now finished the first book, so on Friday the whole 8th grade will be taking the Algebra Unit Test. We will be reviewing on Wednesday and Thursday, to get ready.

Week of March 10th

This is going to be a short week and I hope that the weather doesn't make it any shorter. Monday, there is another SBR test. Students don't have to study for this test of their basic skills, but if they keep getting the some type of problem wrong each time, it might benefit them to do some review. This will be the 10th time we take the same test, just with different numbers. Tuesday, there is the Chapter 4 test. Wednesday is a half day with the play and four 30 minute classes. A new POW will be passed out at this time. Since we don't have school on Friday due to parent conferences, we will be celebrating Pie Day (3.14) on Thursday. Students will be doing research on the meaning and uses of 3.14 and eating pie. Then it is a long weekend and 13 days left in the third quarter.

Week of March 3rd

Last week we got things going again after vacation and now have two weeks before conferences. We will be finishing up Chapter 4 and taking a test towards the end of the week. A new Sunshine Math will be passed out on Monday, due on Friday. The POW that you have been working on it due on Wednesday. Stay healthy and come to school.

Week of February 24th

Hope that everyone had a good extended winter vacation. As I expected, we had a shorten week before vacation. Lets hope for two full weeks of school before the week of conferences. Monday, we will be start working on the lessons in the second half of Chapter 4 and I will be passing out a new Sunshine Math, due on Friday. POW #10 will be passed out mid-week and due the middle of the following week. Don't expect to give any tests this week. Be well and come to school.

Week of February 10th

We have made it to the week before winter vacation. Hope that we can get in a full week of school and that the possible storm at the end of the week, doesn't mess things up. We will be finishing up Lesson 4 on Monday, reviewing on Tuesday and taking a quiz on Lessons 1 - 4 on Wednesday. The POW that you have been working on is due on Wednesday. Then we will be doing a project on linear equations and making brief presentations on Friday. Have a good vacation.

Week of February 3rd

Time to start a new chapter, we move on to Chapter 4. This is going to be a broken up with with the half day on Wednesday, which is going to be the Talent Show. We will also see the the weather brings us that day. A new Sunshine Math will be passed out on Monday, due Friday. POW #9 will be passed out mid-week and due middle of next week. SBR test at the end of the week. We will start working our way through each lesson. Please do your assignments and ask questions.

Week of January 27th

Time to start a new quarter. Fourteen days and a half day until vacation. This week looks like a full week of classes with no storms heading our way. A new Sunshine Math sheet will be passed out on Monday, due Friday. We have finally finished Chapter 3 and after doing some review work, we will be taking the test on Wednesday. Then it will be on to Chapter 4. We will want to do one POW before vacation, but will hold off on passing it out till next week. Stay warm.
